GTD for the New Year – Finally Getting Things Done?

by Quadrant IV

My new year’s resolutions included a number of things, including ‘have a holiday’, ‘participate in Project365‘ and ‘work on getting my GTD process back on track and working for me’. So far I have a holiday planned for December, and have uploaded nine photographs onto Flickr for my Project 365. It is the GTD stuff that is, and always has, caused me the most problems.

I first laid eyes on GTD almost two years ago, and I’ve never quite got the hang of it. Sure, I know about weekly reviews, tickler files and the 43 folders, but I’ve never actually managed to put in the time to get it started, and then keep up the momentum. I’ve tried various computer programs and notebooks, installed things on my Pocket PC as well as various computers, but still have never really got the hang of it.

So 2007 is the year that I finally get the hang of my someday/maybes, get my @contexts together and really start getting things done.

Organisation for the new year

by Quadrant IV

2007 – or 2, double oh seven, as my more James Bond-esque friends prefer to call it, has started with somewhat of a bang. I woke up yesterday morning feeling the general sluggishness that a late night will impose, and suddenly and without warning managed to fall into a productive mindset and got a lot of things done, including:

   * A new theme for Quadrant IV
   * Fixed my permalinks (look, pretty)
   * Started my Project 365 on time
   * Replaced my google ads for something a little more subtle
   * Redesigned my family site and got the redirect working
   * Found a new theme for my family blog and got that in place

Long story short, I did an awful lot of uploading and fiddling yesterday afternoon with various setups, and I think I’ve just about got everything working the way I want.

Next on my list is to finish clearing off my desk, work out how I want to handle the impending ‘hard reset and reload’ of my Pocket PC and get everything straightened out for my return to work tomorrow.

So onward and upward; 2007 is going to be a very productive year.
