It's like they think they can suck you in so that you'll be so desperate to buy that you won't care how much it costs. I found this also when I was shopping for a mortgage. I called Quicken Loans and they just would not tell me what kinds of rates they were offering until I went through a whole lame set of questions that just wasted my time. I hung up on them.
